Many persons may not be aware of what is a Credit Union, particularly our younger members. It is actually a legal financial institution which offers members the benefit of a co-operative society and is an alternative to a Bank in many ways. When entering a financial relationship with any organization, one should look at the spectrum of financial vehicles which are available to fulfil your long and short term financing and credit needs. These vehicles include Banks, Insurance companies and other financial institutions. Many of our Presbyterian businesses have made credit unions their source of financing for their small and medium-size business.
Credit Unions are not solely profit-driven but historically provide service to members. Credit Union members are the OWNERS so there is no conflict of interest. The Credit Union’s interest is its members’ interest.
On the other hand, Banks and other Financial Institutions seek their Stock Holders’ interest and this is always for-profit. The client is the means through which the “for-profit institution” makes its money
CSJPresCU is changing the way "traditional" Credit Unions work.
